With the intent of postcards being to write notes to loved ones, it's safe to say that the design of this piece effectively aids in communicating this goal to the observer. Inspired by the retro styles of the 50s, 60s, and 70s, this postcard design utilizes the visual elements of line and bright color to conceptualize a simple scene of a man swimming under the hot summer sun.

Regarding specifics, the design employs a warm-toned palette of yellow and orange to express the look of the sky during sunset in June and July. In complimenting these warm tones, I employed dark blue for the water, finding familiarity in this usage. In contrasting this diverse use of color, white features itself in both the person and clouds, serving as a neutral tone that stands out within the design's mid-ground. To further communicate feelings of warmth and fun, the typographic content, reading the phrase "welcome to summer," incorporates elements of visual hierarchy through its angular and calligraphic nature.
