This project aims to develop an appealing magazine layout relevant to the subject matter of English astronomer Walter Maunder's journal Are the Planets Inhabited?.
In exhibiting a balance between aesthetics and functionality, the design of this piece plays with negative and positive spaces to ensure ease in readability. Regarding typographic content, the design of this project utilizes sans serif typefaces for the communication of ideas. Concerning color, its incorporation in this design is technical, with black and white granting distinctive contrast that separates the text from its background.
Furthermore, with the audience of this magazine being primarily knowledgeable of science and astronomy, this design targets this demographic via its depiction of space-related imagery such as planets, moons, and stars. Finally, in demonstrating consideration for detail and communication, this design maintains consistency in its stylistic direction, displaying complementary design elements on both pages to provide readers with a unified and harmonious visual experience that communicates information efficiently.
