Inspired by the passion of Victor Hugo's original novel, this poster redesign utilizes color contrast and a mixture of bold typographic stylings to communicate theatrical publishing information to consumers.
Unlike the traditional color palette of red, white, and blue that is often associated with the musical, this poster incorporates a color palette of red, black, and gold as these colors are much more powerful and symbolic. More specifically, the song "Red and Black" directly references these colors, emphasizing red as a symbol of revolution and black as an oppressive color indicative of the dark ages and the regime the rebels in Les Misérables are fighting against during the second half of the musical.
